Echo was known for her chattering ability . She could keep somebody engaged for hours and could talk on any subject . She had kept goddess hear engaged in casual tauks . Hera was at the point of stumbling upon Zeus in the course of love making . Hera due to this unwanted interruption from echo got highly annoyed and put curse on her . From that day echo could not utter anything and was able to repeat only last few words , she heard .
3. Echo,s trembling sound followed narcissus through the trees . She wanted to approach nearer to narcissus to see his beauty but was afraid that he would make mockery of her trembling speech.
4. Suddenly one day Narcissus lost his way in the woods and was separated from his companions. He got frightened and in panic called— ” Is there somebody here?” The echoing sound got repeated ” there “.
Narcissus shouted back — ” Come ! ” Echo again resounded “come!”
5. Being convinced that someone was playing trick on him he called —” Why are you avoiding me! ” His answers again got repeated from the jungle. Narcissus invited Echo to meet him and she responded positively. Echo came out of her hiding place but Narcissus roughly pushed her and ran away saying I would die before I would die before I would have you near me.

Her beauty and youth Vanished and her body got shrunken.Nothing was left out of her body except the pathetic voice. This voice is still rocking the world over. Anxious to talk but was able to repeat what the others said or should and that is Echo.

8. One day what happened that Narcissus got extremely thirsty while out on hunting. He came down near a pool in which water was crystal clean and was still. As he bent down to drink water, he saw the reflection of a beautiful face in the still water of the pond. His heart trembled to see the image in the pool that he did not raise his eyes but from time to time only murmured the words of love.
9. At last his body withered away. It turned into a stem of flower. On the stem, appeared a head of a flower of golden colour with white blossom. This flower called Narcissus is even today visible in quite pools.

                COMPOSITION
Write a paragraph in about 80 words on ‘ Beauty is only skin-deep’.
Ans. All the creatures on this earth are creation of God. God has created men, women, animals, birds, flowers and trees of different size, shape and colour. Persons with white skin and good physique and appearance are appreciated and people get attrached towords him or her.
But we fail to understand that the beauty we see is limited only to the skin which covers the whole structure of the body. As we know, Lord Krishna was of black colour which we call Shyam Verna or colour of a cloud but he was very- very attractive.
Moreover, we must realize that the real beauty is inside the skin i.e. beauty of heart, nature etc which makes one attractive.
